The 2007 Hina Matsuri Japanese Doll Festival is coming to the Japan Cultural Center from Feb. 21 to March 3. The festival, which celebrates the happiness and health of young girls, has been a popular seasonal tradition in Japan since the Edo period. Hina dolls, ornamental dolls representing ancient Japanese royalty, will be on display. This year, craft works from the members of the Dakarazukashi Handicraft Association will also be on display. Visitors will be able to take part in the free handicraft lessons on offer at the exhibition. Reservations will be taken from Feb. 14. For further information, call the center at (02) 765-3011.
