Wine Australia held a tasting of Dionysian delights from Down Under at the Plaza Hotel Monday. As Koreans increasingly develop a taste for wine, imports of Australian wines have gone up 31 percent since last year, according to Australian Trade Commissioner Duncan Cole. “Koreans love Australian Shiraz,” he said. “It’s got that spice that seems to match the Korean palate.”He also says that as wine culture becomes more imbedded on the peninsula, the Korean palate is turning toward higher-end products.
The event featured representatives from most of the main Australian vineyards.
