British Ambassador Warwick Morris hosted a reception on Aug. 17 at his residence to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the U.K.’s upgrade of diplomatic relations with Korea from legations to full embassies and ambassadors. Ambassador Morris and Park Jin, president of the Korea-Britain Society, presented certificates of achievement to five English-language teachers from Korea who spent the summer training in the United Kingdom.
Their program, supported by the Korea-Britain Society, aimed to strengthen English-language instruction in Korea by sharing new classroom techniques. Photos of the British Embassy’s activities in Seoul over the past 50 years were displayed at the reception, which brought together many members of the Korean-British foreign community, including former Korean ambassadors to London; members of the Korea-Britain Society; former Deputy Prime Minister Ahn Kyong-whan, the current president of the Human Rights Commission and Chris Hollands, chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea.
