The Embassy of Norway commemorates the 100th anniversary of composer Edvard Grieg’s death with a concert. Grieg, a Norwegian composer and pianist of the romantic period, lived from 1843 to 1907. The Ambassador of Norway Didrik T?nseth and his wife, Bj?rg Skorstad, host a performance of Grieg’s work by the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Nanse Gum. The program will include “From Holberg’s Time,” Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16 and “Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46 and No. 2, Op. 55.” The piano concerto and the music from “Peer Gynt,” a play by fellow Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, are both considered among Greig’s greatest work. Featured musicians in the concert include Koreans Eugene Choi on piano and Gyeong Suk Seo singing soprano. The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Gyeonggi Arts Center in Suwon.
