July 21: RASKB is arranging a trip south of the Korean Peninsula to Jin, Wan and Bogil Islands. After a five-hour bus ride to Jin Island, the group will stop at Unrimsanbang and the Namjin Museum of Art, which exhibits works by Korean painter Heo Yu, and Namdo Fortress, where Koreans once fought the Mongolians. The next morning, the group will take a boat to Seyeonjeong Pavilion on Bogil Island. Built by Yun Seon-do, a famous Korean official and poet of the Joseon Dynasty, it has been designated a cultural heritage site. Next, the group will visit Haenam’s Daeheungsa Temple, followed by a stop at Yun’s former home, now a museum. There they will view some of the poet’s original work. The bus leaves at 8 a.m. July 21 from Yongsan Post Office, near Sinyongsan Station, line No. 4, exit 1, and returns on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. The trip costs 178,000 won ($193) for members and 198,000 won for non-members.
