Saturday: Gyeongbok Palace is hosting a series of traditional tea ceremonies and lectures on the first Saturday of every month from July to October at Geongcheonggung Residence, which is located within the palace.

Although the lectures are in Korean, everyone is welcome to observe the tea ceremony.

Each month the focus will be on a different element. The second tea ceremony, which will take place this Saturday, will demonstrate a daily tea ceremony for Korean tea leaves and feature a lecture on kinds of tea and how it is prepared.

Geoncheonggung Residence, located in the northern part of the palace compound, the most secluded area inside the palace, has a private pond and a pavilion in the center. It was built as a retreat for King Gojong (1852-1919) and Empress Myeongseong (1851-1895) in 1873.

In addition to the tea ceremony, visitors can also view the changing of the palace guard and try on royal attire of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).

The events will occur from 3 to 4 p.m.
