Wednesday: The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea’s Intellectual Property Center is hosting a breakfast seminar on “Patent Invalidation in Korea.” The seminar will examine the specific patent invalidation process in Korea and discuss how key processes and principles apply to actual cases.

Park Si-young, technical examiner and former administrative patent judge, will give a speech titled “Patent Invalidation Trials in the Korean Intellectual Property Tribunal.”

Han Dong-soo, presiding judge at the Daejeon District Court, will talk about the key aspects that play a role in patent invalidation judgments.

Kim Cheol-hwan, a lawyer at Yulchon and EUCCK IP legal counsel member, will speak on what corporations can do when their patents are invalidated. Simultaneous translations for Korean and English will be provided.

Registration will start at 7:40 a.m. and the seminar starts at 8 a.m.

Admission costs 65,000 won ($54) for EUCCK IP Center members, 85,000 won for EUCCK members and 110,000 won for non-members.

The venue for the seminar is the Gumgang Room on the A1 floor of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Gangnam.
