Saturday: The Royal Asiatic Society Korean Branch is going on a hiking and sightseeing tour of Mount Sobaek and some of the temples in the area. The mountain is located in the center of the Korean Peninsula and is famous for its scenery and wildflowers like the edelweiss. Mount Sobaek has been designated a national park and its natural beauty has been relatively well preserved. The group will start off with a half-hour hike to Huibangsa, a Silla Dynasty temple. An 18-meter-high (59-foot) waterfall behind the temple casts a peaceful air over the area. Next is a bus trip to Guin Temple; it’s a 20-minute hike to the temple on arrival. The temple, perched over a steep valley on the northern slope of the mountain, is famous for its architecture. The tour costs 38,500 won ($38) for members, and 41,400 won for nonmembers. The bus leaves from Yongsan Post Office, near Sinyongsan Station, line No. 4, exit 1, at 8:00 a.m., and comes back at 8:30 p.m. www.raskb.com
