Saturday: Raskb is going to Icheon to observe the art of traditional pottery making. Icheon has long been a center of porcelain production because of its outlying forests and good quality kaolin found in nearby Gwangju. The first stop is the kiln of the Ji family, makers of some very valuable pottery works. Ji Soo-ku, son of the famous master potter Ji Sun-taik, is at the helm these days. The next kiln on the list is Kim Jong-mok’s, where the group will get an idea of the different steps involved in making pottery. Lee Un-ku’s kiln, situated in a potter’s village, will follow. The group will then take in the different hues of the art; first, with Kim Se-ryong’s blue porcelain and then with Lee Hang-taek’s white porcelain. Time will be afforded to participants eager to shop for souvenirs or Korean kimchi pots, or onggi. The tour is 31,500 won ($31) for members and 37,800 won for nonmembers. The bus leaves from Yongsan Post Office, near Sinyongsan Station, line 4, exit No. 1, at 9 a.m. and returns at 6:30 p.m.
