Saturday and Dec. 15: “Follow Music, Follow Elegance: Korean Traditional Performances for Foreigners” will be held at the Museum Cafe Gogungddurak in the National Palace Museum of Korea at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Dec. 15. The museum is on the grounds of Gyeongbok Palace at Gyeongbokgung Station, line No 3, exit 5. Hosted by Arts Council Korea, the performance is free, giving foreigners opportunities to appreciate the traditional sounds of Korea.
The concert will feature top Korean traditional musicians. Gagok, a vocal genre appreciated by scholars, will be performed by Hwang Suk-gyeong. Jung Gil-seon of the Gyeonggi Traditional Korean Music Orchestra will play the gayageum, a traditional Korean zither, and crossover musician Kang Eum-il will give a performance of the haeguem, a Korean fiddle. Chae Soo-jung’s pansori “The Song of Heungbu” will finish off the main program, with backup drumming by Choe Gwang-su.
