Saturday: Seoul Global Center (http://global.seoul.go.kr), which opened this year aiming to help make life in Seoul easier for foreigners, is beginning a tour series called the Seoul Experience Program. The first trip is to the Korea Military Academy in Nowon District, northern Seoul.
The government-run KMA was founded in 1946 to shape young Koreans into the nation’s future military leaders.
The group will meet, rain or shine, in front of City Hall, at City Hall Station, line No. 1, exit 5, at 9:30 a.m., and then be shuttled to the academy.
Stops on the tour include the military school’s Memorial Hall, built to mark its 50th anniversary; the museum, which traces Korean military history with 14 national treasures and 10,000 military relics and an outdoor display of tanks, aircraft and missiles. At the end of the tour, participants will have an opportunity to shoot weapons at the International Shooting Field. The field was used in the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Participants should be back at City Hall by 1 p.m. This tour is free of charge, but children under 8 aren’t allowed.
