Tuesday: The Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch is hosting a lecture on Korean cinema this Tuesday with Dr. Chae Youn-jeong.

Since the 1990s, Korean cinema has been most dynamic. From engaging socio-political dramas to popular films, the Korean film industry has enriched the kaleidoscope of Korean life and culture. This lecture offers an introduction to Korean cinema by explaining its history, genres and directors.

Dr. Chae received a Ph.D. at New York University and has worked for Korean film festivals and published numerous film reviews and articles. She is currently writing a book on Korean cinema.

The lecture will be held at the second floor lounge of Somerset Palace from 7:30 p.m. Following the lecture, there will be complimentary coffee and soft drinks.

Somerset Palace is located in central Seoul, opposite the Japanese Embassy.
