Saturday: The National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts is beginning the spring semester of its Korean Traditional Music Classes for Foreigners.

Traditional Korean musical instruments to be covered in the course include janggu (hourglass-shaped drum), gayageum (12-stringed zither), danso (vertical bamboo flute) and samulnori (a percussion quartet).

The 12-week course, which will be conducted in English by professional NCKTPA performers and lecturers, runs until May 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m on Saturdays, and costs 30,000 won.

Applications close tomorrow.

The NCKTPA is located next to the Seoul Arts Center in southern Seoul.
